Throughout the desert landscape are rocky sandstone outcroppings, some small, some sizeable. The various impurities in the stone create different colors ranging from pink and orange, to grey and brown. When the daylight changes, the hues can come alive and as they radiate the heat of summer, the rock seemingly looks like it glows from the heat. It looked and felt like a giant oven as I was standing here in 107° temperature. It was exhilarating. Time to stop and take another drink from my canteen.
