Milky Way Rising - Saint Lucia
This is what the transition from twilight to night was like as we stood watching the glowing horizon give way to the indigo night sky. This beach was away from the activity of island visitors and abandoned except for us. It was beautiful and haunting at the same time. Being alone on a deserted beach as darkness fell was intense and calming. I knew what I wanted to experience and the heavens provided the show. Jupiter made a special appearance for us as well.
This was an impossible shot to capture at once, yet it was there before our eyes. I captured the earthly part before the last light of the sun faded away below the horizon and then worked to capture our glorious and almost overwhelming galactic home.
