I sat on the immense rock pile at the end of this glacier created and fed lake two mornings in a row. Both mornings were spectacular. Both mornings were very different. Both mornings left the crowd of early risers speechless. The first morning the mountains were shrouded in swirling clouds that thankfully broke as the first light bathed the mountain peaks. This, the second morning was crystal clear at first and seemed like it would be uninspiring. To the contrary, the stunningly bold blues and the alpen glow on the peaks made the scene otherworldly and no less jaw dropping. As the mountains warmed in the new light, the moisture in the colder air in the valley would spontaneously form small clouds which would last a minute and then suddenly disappear. It was magical.
