My first night in Monterey, CA looked like it would be a little overcast and dull. I had to scout a few places along the shoreline near Point Pinos Lighthouse that I knew I wanted to photograph. It was windy and cold, but I was intrigued by the rock formations at the shore. As the sun broke through and lit the rocks in the water, the surrounding area became enveloped in a soft warm color that reflected on the water and made for a beautiful and otherworldly sight. It was not what I was originally expecting or planning for, but it exceed my expectations.
